AVG Takes Top Honors for Most Social Business at Useful Social Media Awards 2012

Company recognized for holistic, comprehensive approach to social media across business functions

AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 18, 2012-- AVG Technologies (NYSE: AVG), the provider of internet and mobile security to 114 million active users, today proudly announced it has won the award for Most Social Business at the prestigious Useful Social Media Awards 2012, held as part of the Corporate Social Media Summit in New York on June 13.

AVG took top honors among more than 100 organizations entering the competition. The company was shortlisted for the award via a public voting process in which more than 50,000 votes were cast, and was selected as the Most Social Business 2012 by a panel of judges that included some of the most prominent social media corporate executives in the industry.

Earlier this year, AVG became the first Internet security company to reach the milestone of 1 million Facebook fans, growing its community of active followers more than three-fold in less than 12 months. The company also has achieved tremendous success engaging with its loyal fan base on Twitter with 100,000+ followers, as well as on LinkedIn, its YouTube channel, company blog and via its blogger outreach program.
